Hyperscale Storage Case Study

Iceotope partnered with Meta to conduct a study that confirmed the practicality and efficiency of chassis-level liquid cooling for high-density storage disks in hyperscale data centers. The study demonstrated significant advantages, including improved thermal management, reduced vibration, and equalized temperatures across the JBOD, which directly leads to lower failure rates and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO).

As demand for data storage continues to rise, the need for efficient cooling solutions becomes critical. This study highlights how liquid cooling successfully reduces energy consumption, maintains lower and more consistent temperatures , resulting in fewer drive failures and improved ESG compliance. The study demonstrated that chassis-level immersion cooling is an ideal solution for high-density storage systems in data centers.

Power Shelf Case Study

Iceotope developed in collaboration with partners the ELIPS (Enhanced Liquid Immersion Power Systems) project, a UKRI-Innovate funded initiative designed to deliver high-density power solutions for data centers. The ELIPS power shelf, capable of delivering up to 80kW in a standard OCP ORv3 rack, integrates 8 x 10kW true 3-phase AC-DC PSU modules optimized for Iceotope Liquid Cooling. This advanced design overcomes key challenges in cooling, coolant compatibility, and electronics packaging, ensuring efficient operation and scalability for data centers. 

As AI and high-performance computing push power densities beyond 1kW per CPU and GPU, ELIPS addresses the growing need for compact, efficient power shelves that can support up to 100kW per rack while reducing space consumption and enabling easy operation and maintenance. Iceotope aims to further enhance the power delivery of this solution, pushing beyond 100kW to meet the increasing demands of next-generation computing.
