Key Highlights:

  • Between 2024 and 2028 spending on AI as a proportion of business IT spend is expected to grow over 20%.

  • 75% of US companies are already utilizing AI, indicating its transformative potential.

  • Nvidia, has seen 800% growth since 2023 due to the use of its GPUs in AI, illustrating the rapid development and dominance of AI in technology sectors.

  • Precision Liquid Cooling technology offers significant advantages for data centers, eliminating hot spots, reducing maintenance and reducing power consumption by up to 40%.

The growth in AI use by businesses over the past two years is hard to overstate, with the size of the global AI Market predicted to be worth around £300 million in 2024 and nearly 75% of US companies using AI in some capacity, AI is set to be truly transformative.

The growth of AI does, however, present challenges, including the sheer logistics of building data centers large enough and powering the servers in an environmentally friendly way. The last point is a pressing one, given the need to rapidly decarbonise in the face of global warming and considering that AI likely to be a significant consumer of future energy needs. For example, Silicon Valley Power, is predicting that by 2035, data centers will have caused their entire system load to double.

In the face of these challenges, cooling technology will be critical in ensuring that data centers can deliver the scale needed to drive the AI revolution without causing data center size to spiral out of control or damage the environment.

Meeting the Challenge

How then are AI-driven businesses to find the data center capacity they need in a sustainable way? Precision Liquid Cooling is one important answer. It keeps water consumption to a minimum and recaptures close to 100% of the heat generated by the servers. This prevents inefficiencies, component damage and further energy use requirements. Crucially this approach allows for servers to be arranged in dense racks, maximizing space efficiency. This means no wasted space within data centers and no complex transformations away from racking servers to alternate systems such as immersion tanks. This technology will keep pace with the next generation of high-power chips that will be deployed as the AI revolution continues to gather pace, as our recent tests in this area have been very successful.

Our technology is simple to use and easy to maintain, allowing data center teams to quickly implement our standard rack chassis and resolve any problems that may arise quickly and simply.

Perhaps the single biggest benefit of precision liquid cooling technologies is the reduction in power consumption it requires, reducing usage by up to 40% in some cases and demonstrating a path to a world where increased AI usage doesn’t put a strain on power network’s ability to deliver.

The Future of Liquid Cooling and AI

As AI continues to be used to a greater extent across more diverse applications in an ever growing number of businesses, it is vital for data centers to meet the challenge of scaling in an environmentally sustainable way and the right cooling technology will be critical to achieving this.
